As a full-time student, I have come to appreciate the benefit of learning new skills. I strive to display a willingness to learn quickly to be proficient in a variety of ways that can benefit both myself and my institution.
Flexibility is key to working well with others, a trait which I value immensely.
My focus in history has allowed me to develop an attitude which constantly seeks to find the good in people, regardless of circumstance. I look to be approachable with people wherever I am.
Strategic Communications Intern-ICI
June 2017-present.
As an intern at Independent Colleges of Indiana, I am responsible for social media management, particularly running the ICI blog, which shares tips, tricks, and advice for both incoming and current college students. I also assist with some event planning as well as event working and general office responsibilities.
Teaching Assistant-Dr. Jared Burkholder.
January 2017-May 2017.
As a teaching assistant I was responsible for aiding Dr. Burkholder in lower level history courses. This includes grading papers and general classroom help. I assisted on a digitization project for him as well.
Reference Assistant & Circulation Clerk-Morgan Library.
August 2013-May 2017.
In this position, I was a face for the library by assisting our patrons in a number of ways. I served at a front desk and was often the first person that our patrons would approach for help. As a Reference Assistant, I was trained on various databases and reference materials. I was able to assist patrons, particularly students, in researching various topics for relevant material.
Research Assistant-Dr. Robert Brady.
2015.
Dr. Brady is the Director of Communications for the Indiana Council for the Social Studies. I served as his Research Assistant for almost a full semester. He would provide me with various focused topics in social studies and I would do research over the course of several weeks. Dr. Brady would then use the research I provided him with to write supplemental materials for teachers to use in their classrooms.

I enjoy both of my majors, however History is my first love. I have a great fascination with American history, particularly early Revolutionary America, the creation of American culture, and the unique fraternity that is presidential culture.

My degree in communications is highly practical. It has been a joy for me to examine my own life to see how broadly communications can be used. It is applicable from personal conversation, to wording emails, to social media posts.
